Top-seed Roger Federer scored his fourth straight victory over No. 8 seed Nikolay Davydenko by winning 6-3, 6-4 in one hour, five minutes. Federer broke the Russian's serve once in each set, in the sixth game of the first set and in opening game of the second set. The Swiss phenomenon is yet to lose his own serve this week in four matches played.

No. 6 seed Ivan Ljubicic also convinced in his 6-3, 7-6(4) victory over routined Spaniard Albert Costa. The Croat won the first set in only 31 minutes breaking Costa in the fourth game. However, 29-year-old Costa put up some resistance in the second set fighting back from a 3-5 deficit. He was able to break back when Ljubicic served for the match at 5-4 to force a tie-break. Last year's finalist proved too strong though, winning four of the last five points of the match.

COSTA CLAIMS FIRST ATP DOUBLES TITLE WITH NADAL

In a final involving two unseeded teams, Spaniards Albert Costa and Rafael Nadal defeated Andrei Pavel and Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 in one hour, 59 minutes to claim the Qatar ExxonMobil Open doubles crown.

2002 Roland Garros champion Costa wins his first-ever doubles title, while 18-year-old Nadal collects his third. Youzhny was, like Costa, seeking his first ATP doubles title.

WHAT THE PLAYERS SAID:

Federer: Im always happy when I my matches. If I walk off the court and Ive won, and Im not happy then something is wrong. Of course, you can always play better at times and today was one of these days I thought. I could have played better, that was very clear. I missed many forehands, which I usually make. But again, I never lost my serve during this year, during this tournament. Thats great. You have to do something right if you dont lose your serve. For this reason Im happy.

He [Davydenko] makes it hard for you. He relies on his ground strokes a lot, then he tries to dominate the rally, which he is very good at. This whey you dont get your chances too often, even though it looks like you are going to get one every time but you dont.

About the final against Ljubicic

He is a good player, it wont be an easy match. I am confident, you can imagine. Ive won my last 13 finals so I expect myself to win it again tomorrow. Im looking forward to a good match because he has played well this week.

Ljubicic: Im very pleased with the way I played today, especially the first one and a half sets. I think I had a lot of chances to close it out earlier but its a nice feeling because I felt I wasnt serving that well. Beating Costa without big help of the serve is a good sign. I really feel confident again.

I feel fantastic here. Every time I step onto the courts here I feel confident, even if Im not playing great tennis. I have to say its an unbelievable feeling to be in the final here again.

Im looking forward to play against Roger. He is my friend and he is a fantastic player. Im going to enjoy tomorrows final.

Costa: It's unbelievable. For me to win my first doubles title is a great surprise. I never expected this, especially in this tournament. I play very good with Rafa, we feel very close to each other. I tried my best in the singles but Ivan was a little better than me today.
