Two years ago, in a tennis club in the seaside town of La Baule, France a crowd of around 500 people watched Spain defeat USA to win the inaugural Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, the ITF team competitions for boys aged 16 & under.
The leader of the Spanish team was none other than 16 year old Rafael Nadal, who was named to play a pivotal role in the 2004 Davis Cup Final against USA in Seville, Spain.
To the spectators watching the Junior Davis Cup Final it was obvious that Nadal was a special talent as he brushed aside American Brendan Evans 62 62 to secure the second singles victory and the title for Spain. However, few would have predicted that Nadals path to the final of the Davis Cup proper would be quite so meteoric.
Only two years later, now aged 18, Nadal once again found himself facing USA, but this final was a whole different story, replace the 500 spectators with 27,000 Spanish fans and replace Brendan Evans with world No.2 Andy Roddick.
Nevertheless, the end result was still the same with Nadal playing a phenomenal match to defeat Roddick.
The challenges may have been on a different scale, but Nadal now has a new version of the Davis Cup in his trophy cabinet.
